Sizing a Wood Cane/Walking Stick
Sizing a Wood Cane/Walking Stick.
It takes two people to size a cane properly.
The cane/walking stick user should stand upright, in the type of shoes they would normally wear, with their arms hanging naturally at their side.
Another person should turn the cane/walking stick upside down, so the handle is on the floor.
Placing the stick next to the user, make a small mark on the shaft of the stick level with the bump at the bottom of the wrist bone or where your wrist bends.
Remove the tip.
Using a small saw, cut the stick at this point (the mark you made).
Put the tip back onto the stick.
How Long Should My Wood Cane/Walking Stick Be?
When the user holds the cane/walking stick their arm should be slightly bent.
